Allison PYPER Obituary

ALLISON MARGARET PYPER May 24, 1982 - August 13, 2021 Allison (Allie) Margaret Pyper passed away on August 13, 2021, in a Toronto hospital after a short illness. She is the beloved daughter of Dr. Elizabeth Pyper, and was born in Toronto on May 24, 1982. Niece to the late Douglas Pyper. Cousins to Susan Walker (Kenny Walker) and Alan Pyper (Marta Zuchowska). Niece to Dorothy Latham (Colin Latham). Cousin to Katherine Birmingham (Jamie Birmingham) and Tom Latham. She graduated from the University of Toronto and received her Law Degree at Bond University in Queensland, Australia, where she specialized in Environmental Law. Once back in Canada, she specialized in Criminal and Refugee Law and found her calling helping those in need. She loved her dog Amelie, animals, plants and of course people. Her passion for travel took her to all continents and many countries including Tibet, Mongolia, and Korea as she always preferred the untrodden path. Allie volunteered her time with many organizations including those who helped refugees and Amnesty International. Allie will be missed and remembered for her fiery personality and large smile. She burned bright, died too soon, and took the road less traveled. Donations may be made in her name to Amnesty International. A Visitation will be held at Rosedale Presbyterian Church, 129 Mt. Pleasant Road, on Friday, September 3, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Funeral will also be at the church on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 2 p.m., and can be viewed by livestream at https://ipickart.ca/stream/APyper.

Elizabeth, Liz, I've just now found out about your tragedy. My heart goes out for you. This is staggering. Even though our lives took different paths lately, I have many vivid memories of little Allie and my children Julia and Paul playing together on the beach, at the summer cottage and often in your wonderful home. Liz, you have raised a wonderful daughter. We are sorry for your loss. Much love, Isabella and Jacek

Never met Miss Allison in person but saw the countless and many lives she saved.
She was a gift to the lonely and oppressed. A counselor to the voiceless and tortured from around the globe .
Thanks for your service to mankind.
May the Lord protect her family .

For Allie's mom, Dr. Pyper, there aren't words sufficient to express the tender wishes for comfort I feel for you in my heart. You gave us an incredible gift, your daughter Allie. Bold, fierce, passionate, loving, kind, generous and so talented. She was my friend and colleague, and I miss her deeply. Her absence is a tremendous loss to this world, to the legal community and to those people she was yet to help, after already changing the lives of so many. I am grateful for the time we had together, and her inspiration and influence in my life will forever remain. With love, Kristen Forsythe
