My deepest condolences to the Newman family. I am so sorry for your loss. I spent a summer as his children´s babysitter which lead to a job for numerous years after. A true mensche, kind and witty.

I wasca patient of Dr. Newman for 15 years. He performed numerous procedures on me. He was gentle, caring and very patient. I adored him. So sorry for his loss. He will be missed.

To the Family,
I was a patient of Dr Newmans for over 30 years. He was a very thorough doctor, a kind man, with a wonderful sense of humour.... and ALWAYS there for you! My heartfelt condolences to his family. Please know how much admiration I had for him. He shall be sorrowfully missed.

Dr. Newman was my very first clinical teacher. It was at Mt Sinai Hospital in Toronto 1980. His teaching, wit and caring still benefit my patients.

My heartfelt condolences to the Newman family. I was very fortunate to be under the care of Dr Newman for many years and I simply adored him. He was a very special and unique individual - brainy, kind and with an abundance of wit and charm. I only wish I could have thanked him more for the excellent care I received over many years. I hope that his family know how much he was dearly loved by his patients like me. May his memory serve as a blessing.

Alvin was a dear colleague and friend. For a period of time we shared adjoining offices at Mount Sinai Hospital and was a consultant to Baycrest Geriatric Centre during the years that I was involved with it. He was a very fine physician and teacher but most of all a real mensch!

I knew Alvin during an important period in the history of the U of T medical school. He was an eloquent and forceful leader in the movement to inject small group problem-based learning into the undergraduate curriculum. Despite much resistance, his well-stated wisdom prevailed. He was an amusing and admirable man. Always fun to be with him.
