ANN CONACHER

It is with great sadness that the family of Ann Conacher announces her passing on October 21, 2025, in her 93rd year. Ann was born in Oshawa and was the eldest child of the late Arthur and Denelda (Stuart) Randle, of North Bay, Ontario. She was survived by her late brother, Peter Randle (Helen), and is survived by her younger brother, Jim Randle (Mary), of North Bay. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Emily Randle (Peter Vondracek), Susan Ostojic (Peter), Dr. John Randle (Ola Bruce), Joseph Randle (Janet), and their families. When Ann was a child, her family moved to North Bay, Ontario. Ann was an accomplished figure skater and, in 1953, at 19 years of age, won the Northern Ontario Women's Figure Skating Championship. While attending North Bay Collegiate, she was the Commander of the Girls Cadet Squadron. At that time, all students at NBCI & VS had to be involved in the army cadets. In the late 1950s, Ann moved to Toronto, where she met and married the love of her life, Peter Conacher. They married in 1966 and lived in their beautiful home in Etobicoke. However, they spent many treasured years on Sherry Island, their Georgian Bay property, which is located in the Sans Souci area. Ann and Peter's contribution to the culture and environment of the Sans Souci area was profound. Ann spent over 50 years as a member of the Toronto Garden Club. She had, just recently, retired from working on the archives for the TGC. Ann's flowers around their cottage and boat house, as well as their lovely backyard sanctuary were admired by visitors for their outstanding colour and beauty. Ann's home was always a welcoming place for family and friends. In particular, she hosted luncheons for Peter's friends from the "Thursday Children," the Leafs Old Timers, Special Olympics Board Members, and Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. Peter and Ann hosted many annual black-tie parties at Christmas to raise money for the Santa Claus Fund. They were instrumental in starting and maintaining the decoration of the boulevard trees at Christmas on Conifer Drive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nancy Bowen and Patty Lixfeld for the loving care they provided for the last year of Ann's life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visitation will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto) on November 1, 2025, at 1 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m. A private family interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
