Ann HOWE Obituary
ANN HOWE (née Ferguson) 1939-2022 Ann Howe passed away peacefully on May 24, surrounded by her loving children (Karen, Norman and Kristina), and in full control of her faculties and her own destiny. She has returned to the loving embraces of her husband, Bruce; her siblings, Barb and Doug; and her parents, Ernie and Evelyn. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Grace, Max and Oscar; her nieces and nephews, Neil, Kim, Jennifer and Holly; her daughter-in-law, Emily; and multitudes of friends. The first act in Ann's life was all about the small-town girl from Baie-Comeau, where her renown as one half of the famous Ferguson twins made her a local celebrity. It was an idyllic childhood, capped by her matriculation at Mount Allison, and it would be a touchstone throughout her life. Her second act was as the glamorous wife of businessman Bruce Howe. They travelled the world together and when the world came to Vancouver for Expo 86, she entertained everyone from Princess Di to Margaret Thatcher. Along the way, she produced 3 accomplished children, gave her time generously to the community, the church, and her friends, and when her beloved Bruce fell ill, she nursed him with love and devotion. Her third act was most assuredly her own, when she established her dominion over Ann's party palace. She threw open the doors to her home and enthusiastically embraced anyone who crossed the threshold. Ann was a dedicated volunteer, an avid gardener, an enthusiastic chanteuse, and a championship tennis player, but most of all she was a legendary collector of people, with a deep and abiding curiosity about everyone. Her final days were filled with family, friends, laughter and love as she held court one last time. The family wishes to thank Dr. Brad Fritz as well as her dedicated and loving team of caregivers (Jaz, Ben, Diego, Mauricio, Athenas, Sita, Zara).
