Ann MITCHELL Obituary

ANN MITCHELL (Cameron) 1935 - 2023 Ann Mitchell, (Cameron) adoring and adored wife of Brad Mitchell for 56 years, before his death in 2016; sister of Doug Cameron (Karen); mother of Doug (Simmy), Jane, and Susan; and grandmother of Lucas, Nico (Elisha) Cameron (Emily), William and Sterling (Dayna); died peacefully in Sherbrooke on June 14, 2023. Mum was a force of nature who loved a project no matter how big or small. It was something to be planned, executed and completed at the highest standards. If there was no project in front of her, she created one, so she could later cross it off her list. She grew up in Ottawa, and then on to Queens where she formed lifelong friendships that she nourished and treasured. She received a business degree from Radcliffe and there is little doubt that had she been born some 30 years later, she would have been a force in the Canadian business world. She instead developed a career as an artist, painting family scenes for people and homes around the world, eventually publishing two books of her paintings with accompanying narrative about the scenes and the evolution of her life. But her principal role was to support Brad as his jobs took him across Québec, Toronto, New York and eventually their beloved North Hatley. Everywhere they lived, their home became not only a home in every sense of the word for her family, but a place where all their many, many friends were welcome and all came frequently. She also raised their children to always aspire to the highest standards of everything they did, but really to aspire to the highest standards of decency towards all. She was our model. Parkinson's presented both a physical and emotional challenge later in life, but as with all other challenges she faced, she sought ways to overcome it and largely did until the last year. The family is forever grateful for the support and care Mum received in the last years from the Grace Village, but in particular from the wonderful care team of Sue Davies, Trudy Taylor, Nancy Taylor, Nancy McAuley, Sue McComb, Dallas Neville (and of course Tomasz Stoyczek). They added immensely to her enjoyment of life. Mum had a wonderful life and we are all grateful that she was able to die peacefully. There will be a funeral service at the Bishop's College School chapel at 80 Chemin Moulton Hill, Sherbrooke, QC on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made to either the Grace Village Foundation https://www.gracevillage.ca/14542/the-grace-village-care-foundation or the Bishop's College School Foundation https://www.bishopscollegeschool.com/giving/make-a-gift.

What a lady Ann was! Sending love to the Mitchell family at this very sad time. Ann and Brad were always warm and welcoming, whether at BCS or North Hately. I look at Ann´s book often which brings back such wonderful memories of the Eastern Townships and family. She is now reunited with your Dad!
