Ann TOWNLEY Obituary

ANN ROSS TOWNLEY (nee Hodgson) August 31, 1926 - February 14, 2022 Peacefully passed away at the Claremont Retirement Residence in Toronto, Ontario, on February 14, 2022 at the age of 95. Loving wife of the late William Barker Townley DFM (1993) and Mother to Deborah (Townley) Willis and Duncan Townley (Heather). Loved Grandmother to Jennifer (Willis) Boustany (Ziad), Autumn and Amy Townley, Great Grandmother to Ava and Zayden Boustany. Ann was predeceased by her parents Duncan McIntyre Hodgson (1994) and Hylda May Ross Hodgson (1987) and her younger Sisters Linda Jane (Hodgson) Hale Sloss (2009) and Lucy McIntyre (Hodgson) Gordon Seager (1987). The family would like to thank her wonderful caregiver, the 'Marvelous Marivel' without whose care, thought, and attention, her last few years would not have been as easy. We would also like to thank Dr Zoudis, Caregiver Ellen, and the following amazing souls at The Claremont - Ada, Julius, Juana, Mary, Gloria, Fely, and Terry - who Ann was very fond of. Ann will be remembered for her infectious, distinctive laugh, her light hearted sensibility, and her immense generosity to those around her. She will be forever missed. We would like to think that she slipped away, just in time, to join her late husband Bill, for Valentine's Day dinner in Heaven. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Toronto Humane Society. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday March 19, 2022 at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto) from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Those in attendance must wear a face mask at all times, unless seated, and actively eating or drinking.

Ann Townley was a very kind lady and was once my mother-in-law. She and Mr. Townley were very kind to me and I have never forgotten that. My thoughts go out to Duncan, Debbie and their families in this sad time. I am sure she is with Bill, and they will be watching over all of you.

Dear Debbie, Duncan and family,

I remember your mom, your family and Thumper the cocker spaniel so well from many years ago when we lived across the street on Donino. More recently I would often run into Ann in the neighbourhood and she would always greet me with warmth and grace. We always had a chuckle about our paths continuing to cross after such a long time.
My deepest sympathy to each and every one in your family in your time of loss.

Mrs. Townley was an icon in the neighbourhood and always decorated her Christmas lights with grace and simplicity. Her smile is still smiling and for that we are grateful.
