Anne LARKIN Obituary

ANNE H B LARKIN, RPN, ODT On Sunday, January 28, 2024, we lost our angel, Anne. After a sudden and brief illness, Anne died peacefully surrounded by members of her family. Anne is predeceased by her parents Margaret and Montague Larkin, and her nephew Tanner. She leaves her sister Shelagh (Sean), her brothers, Ted (Kate) and Peter, and her nieces Olivia and Lucy and nephews Taylor (Kira), Holden and Joe as well as her precious grandnieces Leah and Brooklyn. She was simply the centre of our family. Though only 66 years old, she lived many lifetimes of impact on all those around her. Anne would want to be remembered for how she made people feel rather than for her accomplishments. She was the most caring, loving, selfless, generous person in addition to being an exceptional sister, aunt, friend and care giver. Anne was awarded the 2022 Order of the Diocese of Toronto in recognition of her lifetime of compassionate service to Christ Church Deer Park and their community breakfast program, the Churches on-the-Hill Food Bank and Yorkminster Park Meals on Wheels. In 2013 Christ Church Deer Park created the annual "Anne Larkin Award' to honour those who have given extraordinary service to the life and community of the Church. In addition, she donated blood and platelets hundreds of times. She did all this on her "days off", all the time working full-time as a registered practical nurse at Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home for over 20 years. While we lost Anne too early, she lived a very fulfilling and hugely impactful life. She was the best 'Auntie Anne' ever and was always attentive to the needs of so many. She was ever present and loving to all who had the extraordinarily good fortune of knowing her. She knew her mission early and lived her life fulfilling it. A private family service has been held. Friends and family are welcomed to Christ Church Deer Park, 1570 Yonge St, Toronto on Friday, February 16th at 2:30 pm for a service and celebration of life. The family would love to hear your stories of how Anne touched your lives. If you wish, please consider donating to Christ Church Deer Park, the Churches on-the-Hill Food Bank or Canadian Blood Services. Anne's legacy inspires us to be kind, be present and be loving every single day. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to www.humphreymiles.com.

It is with deep shock and sadness that we hear of the passing of our much loved cousin Anne. We always looked forward to her visits to Ireland. It was always lovely to get word that she was coming over. Her smile would light up any room. Her hugs were so big and welcoming and her laugh was infectious. We will miss her terribly. Our deepest sympathy to Ted, Peter and Shelagh and all who loved Anne. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time. May dearest Anne rest in peace.

We are so sorry for your loss of Anne. My memory of Anne 40+ years ago, was that she was a nanny for Ann Murray the singer.
Our condolences to the whole family.

Anne was a shining light and she will be sorely missed. Not just a nurse but the most caring, warm and generous person. She took good care of my mother and all the residents on the 3rd floor at Labdara. She always had extra time for me, for my questions and concerns. Anne was simply a wonderful woman with a big heart and I will miss her very much. The saying "heaven gained an angel" couldn´t be more true. RIP Anne, and my sincere condolences to the family.

We had the privilege of volunteering (COTH Food Bank) with Anne for many years. She was interested in everyone. Always a smile, and a wonderful sense of humor. Selfless and committed always. She gave the best "hugs" ever. We will love her and miss her forever. Jim Belshaw and Frank Carroll

I had the pleasure of working with Anne when she generously dedicated her time to the Churches on the HIll Food Bank. She provided volunteer opportunities for our residents who lived at 1425 Bayview Avenue. She was generous, kind and so very patient. She wanted to ensure that those affected by a mental health diagnosis felt, safe, included and respected. She had a hearty laugh and enjoyed life especially when she could be of service to others. I wasn't surprised to read how Anne was the centre of her family. How fortunate to have someone like Anne as part of your family, and your community. It was a privilege to spend time with her. I know her loss will be felt so very deeply by so very many. Thank you Anne for sharing your kind heart and generous spirit.

I came to know Anne through Labdara, when my mother came to live there. Anne was always so kind, caring and patient. The sudden loss of Anne leaves a tremendous void. I know my mother will miss you Anne; I will miss you greatly. My heartfelt condolences to Anne´s family and friends.

My family was blessed to meet Anne during her time at Labdara as a caregiver to my grandmother. Even though it has been years, I still thought of Anne and the positive impact she left through her smiles, laugh and positivity. The world has truly lost a wonderful person and Labdara has lost an angel. Condolences to all her family and friends, she will be dearly missed.

When I think of Anne, I imagine a bright, effervescent light spreading love, hope, laughter and goodness over all. The parable of "The Good Samaritan" comes to mind. Anne will always be the consummate good Samaritan. It has been a great privilege and blessing to know and love her. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. May she be at peace.

Dear, Anne,

Deeply, I am so grateful meeting you from 2009 at Christ Church Deer Park, seating at entrance, how much you was involved during the Community Breakfast on Saturdays, the way how you was holding the Big Silver Gold Cross at the beginning of Sundays Liturgy and how humble you was at receiving that Order of the Diocese of Toronto.

Rest in Peace, Anne.

I remember Anne very well. I´m truly sorry for Shelagh, Ted and Peter and all of her greater family. She was a warm and wonderful soul. She visited our family often and was always great to be around. This is devastating. I hope you all mind yourselves. [email protected]
