ANNE HEDVIG WANG

ANNE HEDVIG WANG obituary

ANNE WANG Obituary

(née Ulrich, November 15, 1936 - January 16, 2026) Died peacefully, surrounded by family. She is survived by her beloved children, Michael (Kiki) and Charlotte (Kim); and her grandchild, Martha. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Erik B. Wang (2012). Born and raised in Aarhus, Denmark, it was while attending a horse show in Copenhagen in 1959 that Anne met Erik, a dashing, recently arrived Canadian diplomat. It was love at first sight. Anne was a constant support to Erik throughout his career, at home and abroad, where she had a wondertul sense of protocol, organizing and hosting memorable, fun gatherings in New Delhi, New York, Copenhagen, Baghdad and their home base in Ottawa. Never one to sit still, she opened a travel agency in 1982 and became one of the first in Ottawa to use digital ticketing. After 15 bustling years in business and doubling as a diplomatic hostess at the same time, Anne retired to the Laurentians with Erik. A slower life allowed for lots of dog walks and convivial Scandinavian lunches with family and friends. In 2013 she met David Hockey and was warmly welcomed into his family by Tim, Mandy and Frances. A faithful companion and similarly avid traveller, they both ventured far and wide in search of culture and history. Anne will be remembered as loyal and loving, wonderfully old-school to the end. The family wishes to thank Delmanor for their attentive and caring support in the last five years.

Anne was a a very dear friend, especially after they moved to Naples FL for the winter. We enjoyed fabulous dinners together , AND she always chose the wine! We shared so many travel stories and discussed politics at length. She was as someone wrote" really old school" and always told me to wear my cashmere sweaters when it was cold in Naples.. We had so fun together. Anne I miss you VERY much.
Photo is with my Daughter ,Stephanie when we visited Ottawa in 2018.
My warmest wishes and deepest sympathy to Charlotte and Michael.

I remember Anna as an involved neighbour who loved to socialize at our Gourmet Dinners with David. They both loved travelling and I remember visiting with them in Naples along with other neighbours from here.
