(August 28, 1928 – March 6, 2026) It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Annetta Turner (née McMonagle) on March 6, 2026, in Oakville, Ontario, at the age of 97. Annetta will be missed dearly by her husband, Ralph, after recently celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. She is forever loved by her three children, Miriam, Tim (Jessie), and Maureen (Daryl); and her eight grandchildren, Tara, Gigi, Tuala and Theo, Elizabeth and Jess, Hayden and Lindsay. Annetta was a remarkably strong and fiercely independent woman, right up to her last days. A private woman, she was always a bit of an enigma. But this didn't dissuade people from gravitating toward her kindness and hospitality. After graduating from Western University, she started with the Visiting Homemakers of Ontario, and from there went to the Milk Foundation. During this time, she met Ralph at a Trident Club Friday night dance at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church. In our dad's words, "I danced with Annetta and then didn't dance with anyone else the entire night." Upon marrying, she was a mother first, but always kept a foot in the working world. She was a freelance tour guide and then, when the kids were older, joined Energy Probe Research Foundation, a non-profit environmental and consumer organization which promotes economic efficiency. Annetta stayed in her role there until retiring at the age of 88. She wore Birkenstocks before they were cool, made her own granola, took art classes, played Bridge, and always found the best outlet places to shop while on the many antique car trips she took with Ralph around North America. Annetta was truly a pillar of strength and will be missed by so many. Thank you to the caring staff at Northridge Long Term Care, who ensured her last few weeks were filled with compassion and extraordinary care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 17th, 1 – 4 p.m. at Donalda Club, Toronto (
