Annie Nina CARLISLE

Annie CARLISLE Obituary

Nina was born and raised in Port Seton, Scotland. She immigrated to Toronto in 1958, where she attended university and spent her career at the University of Toronto. She often spoke of the wonderful friends she made there. Nina was an avid hiker and cross-country skier. She dedicated a huge part of her life to the Bruce Trail Association, spending countless hours volunteering with the local chapter. She made life-long friendships with other members, and her commitment to the club was recognized with the Nina Carlisle Award. Her adventurous spirit led her all over the world, from New Zealand's Milford Track to Norway's fjords and mountains. She was older sister to Robert, favourite auntie to Andrea, and great-auntie to Liz. We will all miss her wonderful stories and generous heart. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to the Bruce Trail Association or Canada Women's College Hospital Foundation.

Nina was one of the first of a small group of dedicated cross-country skiers I met in the Bruce Trail club, and what an enthusiast she was. Our hardy party trouped off on school buses for many years to ski centres now long gone; Nina was an outstanding organizer and trip leader and I have fond memories of ski trips with her and others who have become friends over the years. A big thank you for your leadership, coaching and inspiration, Nina.

Condolences to Nina's family. I met Nina through the Bruce Trail. She was an excellent director of the cross country ski program and provided us with many enjoyable bus trips. Thank you Nina for your many contributions.

Our condolences to Nina´s family. I first met Nina on a hike she was leading with The Bruce Trail Conservancy, she was a wonderful person to speak with and walk with. Nina will be missed.
