HSU, Dr. Anthony C.
It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden loss of Dr. Anthony C. Hsu. A community pediatrician, he lived in Welland/Fonthill area since 1978. Born in Tientsin,China, he was a graduate of the University of Hong Kong Medical School and completed his post-graduate training in Canada. His illustrious career included Research Associate and Staff Nephrologist positions at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, and Consultant Pediatrician in Welland. He was a children's kidney specialist and medical educator. Special achievements include child advocacy, disease prevention, management of child abuse victims and establishing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Welland County General Hospital. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 35 years Irene, children Deborah (Michael), Vanessa and Wendall and grandchildren Tabitha and Trevor. He will be missed by siblings Elizabeth, Peter (Sunny), Pauline (Steven) & Frank (Mee) as well as nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, & Tuesday, April 15 from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 16 from 1-3 p.m. at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland. Reverend Bob Bond will conduct the funeral service from Faith Tabernacle Church, 380 South Pelham Road, Welland, on Wednesday, April 16th at 3:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dr. Hsu's memory to the Welland County General Hospital, Maternal & Children's Services would be greatly appreciated by the family.
