ANTONIO BELAS Obituary

In Loving Memory of Antonio Bras Belas (February 8, 1956 - March 4, 2025) Born, February 8, 1956, Cheleiros, Portugal, to Antonio Pechilga Belas and Angelica Bras Belas. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Antonio Belas, who left this world on March 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family, who will forever cherish his strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit. Antonio was a beloved husband to Fernanda; a proud father to Steve, Marilyn (Jeff), James (Amy), and Sara; and grandfather to Samantha, Jonathan and Theodore, all of whom will carry forward his memory and the values he instilled in them. His family was the heart of his world, and he found immense joy in creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. As a dedicated businessman, and Pillar of the Portuguese community, his career was defined by integrity, passion, and hard work. Antonio Belas built one of the largest Portuguese food distribution companies in Canada, Ferma Import and Export. His leadership and vision inspired those around him, and his contributions will leave a lasting impact to the Portuguese Community and others. Beyond his professional success, he was known for his philanthropy, and always offering a helping hand to those in need and striving to make his community a better place. Even in the face of illness, Antonio fought with remarkable courage and grace, never losing his optimism or his love for life. He taught us the true meaning of resilience and the importance of cherishing every moment. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and determination that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will always be with us. A celebration of Antonio's life will be held on Saturday, March 8th, and Sunday, March 9th, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 420 Dundas Street East, Mississauga. Funeral Service will be held March 10th at 12:00 p.m., Burial to follow at Bayview Cemetery, 740 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation - E & T Comper MPN Program Fund honouring his commitment to helping others. Rest in peace, Antonio. Your love, wisdom, and warmth will never be forgotten.
