ARCHIBALD MCLEAN Obituary

Archibald "Archie" Duncan McLean went to his eternal home to live in the presence of his Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Born on April 18, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario, to Ronald and Marjorie McLean. Archie's childhood adventures often had his sisters, Meredith (predeceased) and Mary, by his side. Archie met his lifelong love, Kathleen Knox, while attending Knox Presbyterian Young Adults. On their first date at the CNE in August 1960, they enjoyed all the rides, played every game and knew they were going to spend the rest of their lives together. They married two years later, while Arch was attending Wilfrid Laurier University. Archie and Kay were blessed with six children over 16 years while living in Kitchener, Toronto, Peterborough and Norwood, before making their family home in NB. After graduating in 1964 with a business degree, Archie had a successful career in the food industry working at Quaker Oats, McCain Foods and Maple Leaf Foods. He led, mentored and encouraged his corporate teams with care, compassion and servant leadership. Archie travelled internationally for work, but his favorite place to relax and vacation was the Lake, where the McLeans took great pleasure in hosting many family and friends for more than 40 years. Archie served enthusiastically on numerous secular and Christian boards. Some of his favorite memories were from time serving, as board chair for Tyndale University, where he received his Honorary Doctorate, 15 years on the board of Transport for Christ, and being involved in the Power to Change campaigns across Canada and in Ireland, where Archie witnessed the gospel of Jesus Christ transforming lives and reconciling communities. He was an active member of his community and church, teaching adult Sunday School for many years. Wherever he worked or served, Archie sought to exemplify "love in action." Archie's greatest joy and passions were loving family, friends and his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He sought to practice his faith in all his endeavours. The most influential and inspirational people in his life were his wife, Kay, and his mother, Marjorie, both missionary kids who spent 17 years in India and China respectively. His life, legacy and passing into the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ are celebrated by his children, Darlene (Harold), Paul (Willette), Corinne (Jeff), Stephen (predeceased) (Trudy), Deborah (Kurt), and Timothy (Adi). "Papa" will always hold a special place in the hearts of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of Archie's life will be held on March 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodstock Baptist Church, 785 Main St., Woodstock, NB, and will be livestreamed. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., with food and fellowship after the service. Memorial contributions in Archie's honour may be made to Woodstock Baptist Church (online at woodstockbaptist.ca/give or by etransfer: [email protected]), Tyndale University (www.tyndale.ca/donate) or a Charity of Your Choice.
