Armand KORKIS Obituary



DR. ARMAND KORKIS Passed away peacefully at the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital on September 4, 2011 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Nahid for 63 years. Father of Marianne Bahoshy and her husband Joseph, Joseph and his wife Yasmin, Adolf and Anita Lynsdale and her husband Louay. Proud grandfather of Claude, Mark (Georgina), Carl, Diane, Anne, Caroline, Sandra and Joanna. Great-grandfather of Mia and Daniel. Brother of George and Nanette Korkis. Predeceased by his parents Adelle and Nasralla, his brothers Dr. Ferdenand and Rene Korkis. Dr. Korkis was a highly successful family physician, anatomist, historian and was multilingual, able to speak four languages. In 1981, he received a medal from Pope John Paul II for his humanitarian and mankind efforts. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, (905-632-3333), on Thursday and Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers Friday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, (Brant Street at Blairholm), Burlington, on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Burlington Hotel and Conference Centre, 3063 South Service Road, Burlington, (formerly The Holiday Inn).
