Dear Colleen, Arnie, Lisa and family,
On behalf of the Beedell Family, our deepest sympathies on the passing of Arnie. From our early connection through the Gloucester Swim Club, to Ashbury College, to 50 years of 'keeping us in cars', to the continued friendship of Colleen and my mother - all our interactions with Arnie were graced by his generous enthusiasm for life. Without doubt, Arnie was a hard worker but he worked with a purpose beyond mere profit. He worked for his family, for his employees, and for his customers. A businessman and family man, par excellence.

From 1971 when I moved to Ottawa from Toronto to begin a new career, bringing with me my 1969 Volvo 142 GT, eventually ended up servicing my vehicle at Ogilvie Motors, I first met Arnie and greeted then by Colleen, John Kennedy and Joe Mendes.
In 1974, I purchased my Volvo wagon from Arnie. Since then, many vehicles later, have been honoured and proud to consider Arnie and his family not only my business mentors, but had become a true family to me. Arnie, thank you for the memorable times together, and for your solid advice and trust. I will always remember you.
My deepest condolences to Colleen, John, Arnie and Lisa, as well as to all the family and the incredible people of such a great organization who have so positively influenced my own career and life.

Had the pleasure and honour to work for Mr. Mieirns for 11 years at Civic Motors. Have so many great memories and stories shared in the old smoking room. Building the New Civic Motors showroom. We stayed each day in his office talking about the day ahead but mostly sharing stories. He was one of a kind and will be missed. Thank you for your guidance and support . May you Rest In Peace.

I adored him. Had the deepest respect for his principled-based approach to business. He was consistent, fair, and had the biggest heart. And when he had your back.....you felt it. I am so sorry he is gone.
