Arthur CHAN Obituary
CHAN, Arthur Hing-Chiu
Loving husband to Kathy, wonderful father to Iris and Andrea, devoted brother, caring uncle, loyal friend. Senior research scientist at Ontario Hydro, passionate mathematician. Born March 10, 1946 in Hong Kong. Passed away of an aneurysm November 16, 1999 in Mississauga. Arthur's life story would fill endless pages of a remarkable book. His modest demeanor and intrinsically boyish charm often overshadowed his truly brilliant accomplishments and earnest wisdom. He was a man of impassioned curiosity, who succeeded at all that he would endeavor upon. Those who knew him as a young boy would remember his silly, carefree youth. But in university, Arthur found his passion for mathematics, and his love for Kathy. Arthur would then grow into a mature adult, as graduate school fostered his academic talents. And after breezing through his MSc. and PhD theses, he and his wife found home in Mississauga. There and from then on, they brought up their two beautiful daughters Iris and Andrea. Arthur found pleasure in music, cooking, writing, and singing. But above all, Arthur was devoted to his family. His parents, his ten brothers and sisters, and countless nieces and nephews were all so very important to him. But his wife and daughters will miss Arthur's love most of all. He was, after all, a most extraordinary husband and father. Friends will be received at the Neweduk Funeral Home - Mississauga Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West (1 block east of Erin Mills Parkway), on Friday, November 19th from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 1 p.m. in the Chapel.
