CLAYTON, Arthur Chamberlain "Pitt"
Arthur Chamberlain "Pitt" Clayton, of Christina Lake, B.C., passed away peacefully, at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, on November 2, 1998, at the age of 82. Predeceased in 1996 by Dorothy, his wife of 50 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Sue (Bryan) Elliott of Westwold, B.C., and Patricia (Bob) Currie of North Vancouver, and his grandsons Steve, Mike and Adam. Pitt served with distinction in both the R.A.F. and R.C.A.F. during W.W. II, earning the O.B.E, D.F.C. and bar. A Squadron Leader in Bomber Command during the Battle of Britain, he was "one of the few to whom so many owe so much". Prior to resigning from the R.C.A.F., Group Captain Clayton was Director of Demobilization of Canadian Forces following the war. After many years of travelling and sailing abroad, Pitt retired to Qualicum Beach, Logan Lake and finally Christina Lake. Pursuing his lifelong love of golf, he won the Gold Medal in the B.C. Seniors Golf Tournament. A Tea in memory of Pitt will be held Saturday, November 21 at the Cascade House Restaurant in Christina Lake, B.C. at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Kamloops Hospice, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, B.C.
