Arthur PERRIN Obituary
Arthur Perrin
Art passed away peacefully on April 11, 2014 in his 94th year. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Ellen. He is survived by his sons Bruce (Joanna) and John, and his granddaughters Emma and Carly. Art was born in London, England and spent his early childhood years in France. He came to Canada at the age of 8 and grew up in Windsor, Ontario. After leaving school, he became an airplane mechanic. He joined the RCAF in 1942, serving first in ground crew and then later trained as a navigator/bomb aimer. He finished training just as the war ended. After the war, Art entered Civil Engineering at U of T graduating in 1949. Art had a long and successful career as a consulting engineer. He played a significant role in the construction of a number of major projects across Canada including the TD Centre in Toronto. Art and Ellen were married in 1953 and settled in Don Mills. A much too quick backswing didn't stop Art from enjoying golf for some 60 years. He was a longtime member of the Donalda Club. In retirement, Art and Ellen moved to Alliston, where they travelled, golfed, played bridge and generally enjoyed life. Possessor of a keen mind into his 90's, Art was active and involved wherever he lived, serving on boards, advocating for residents and stirring any nearby pot. An independent and self-reliant person, Art was widely respected for his honesty. He will be missed by colleagues, friends and family. Friends are invited to a celebration of Art's life on Saturday May 17, 2014 from 2 to 4pm at the Amica Retirement Residence, 275 Doak Lane, Newmarket, south side of Gorham St., west of Leslie.
