In 1969, newly married and new to Toronto, I accepted a position as secretary to CTV´s National Program Director, Arthur Weinthal. I was a very young 21, green as grass and Arthur was so kind to me. I remember him fondly. My condolences to the family.

Eric and the rest of Arthur's Family

I had the honor of working for Arthur during his tenure at CTV. We were guilty of introducing Canada to the series "Bizarre" and "The Super Dave Osborne Show" and dozens of other entertainment programs. One of the highlights of my time with Arthur, was producing The Marathon of Hope which honored Terry Fox when he had to stop his run across Canada. Arthur nominated me for Entertainment Producer and the team CTV put together had 4 or 5 days to launch the live marathon coverage which featured news clips and live performances from some of Canada's top talent. The telethon integrated with the show raised over CAD$ 10 million and helped launch Terry's charitable foundation.

Arthur was a mentor to me during my early career. He shared his wisdom with me daily and I was the better for it. We didn't always agree but he allowed me to be open about my thoughts and ideas and helped me grow as a TV executive and producer and as a human.

It's hard to find adequate words to express sympathy for your loss.
Know that my thoughts and prayers are there now and always.

I only knew Arthur as one of the key rock steady executives in a tumultuous era in Canadian broadcasting. A true friend of independent production back in the day when Canadian content was struggling to find its feet. One of the true gentlemen in a tough biz. Condolences to the family.

Arthur was always supportive of my broadcast efforts and I regarded him as one of the most talented television production executives this country has seen. He was a friend ... and a wise, insightful and empathetic human being. Condolences to family and friends.
