ASTON SHIM
1931 - 2013 Passed away peacefully
surrounded by family on
Sunday, December 1, 2013 at
Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto
He is predeceased by his
parents, Shim Kim and Shim
Shue Hong (nee Chin); his
beloved wife, Shirley Shim (nee
Kong); and his brothers, Norman
and Hubert. He retained hope for
his much loved son, Ian Andrew
Shim, who went missing in
Pereira, Columbia in 1982. He is
survived by his caring sisters,
Vera (Michael Wahlroth) and
Sylvia (Bradman Lee-Pack); his
daughters, Brigitte (Howard
Sutcliffe) and Carolyn (John
Canning); and his loving
grandchildren, Sam, Simon and
Rebekah. Born on December 11,
1931 in Kingston Jamaica, Aston
Shim was a vital member of the
Chinese Jamaican community. In
1965, along with his young
family, he moved to Toronto, his
newly adopted home. During his
varied and successful working
career, Aston Shim was a valued
colleague and a generous
mentor to many. Welcoming,
kind and mischievous, Aston will
be dearly missed by his family,
friends and all who knew him

Kensington Gardens. And for
their deeply compassionate care,
much gratitude goes to his
remarkable team of caregivers -

Agamao. The family will receive
friends at the R.S. Kane Funeral
Home, 6150 Yonge Street,
Toronto on Friday, December
6th from 6 - 9 p.m. A funeral
service will be celebrated at
10:30 a.m. on Saturday,
December 7th at the R.S. Kane
Chapel. Interment to follow at
Highland Memory Gardens. In
lieu of flowers, donations in
Aston Shim's memory may be
