AUDREY KENDALL Obituary
Audrey Kathryn Kendall ("Kathy") passed away on December 13, 2025, after a courageous and unyielding battle. She was 59. A woman of immeasurable strength, Kathy endured every hardship placed before her with quiet resolve, never complaint-only determination, grace, and love. Kathy grew up as the middle child between big brother, Hugh and younger, brother James. The family home "658" was a comfortable, busy household with three children spaced just far enough apart to needle each other - but time has a way of sanding down rough edges and revealing unforeseen strengths. Kathy excelled academically. She attended Branksome Hall, as had her mother, and she carried that sense of legacy with pride. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen's University at Kingston, and then her law degree at Dalhousie University. Kathy never took the easy route, and even when early jobs didn't work out, she pressed on. She found her footing at the Nuance Group, and later-more importantly-she found her true professional home at Celestica in Toronto. She spent more than twenty years there as Corporate Counsel, building relationships, solving problems, and doing it all with quiet competence. She became stepmother to 2 girls, and in 2005 she had her son, Sam, who quickly became the centre of her universe. If Kathy loved anything with absolute, unwavering certainty, it was Sam. He was her joy, her purpose, her light, the one person for whom she would fight any battle without hesitation. Kathy faced some challenging chapters in later life, steadfastly supported by her friends, and by Sam. With clarity and renewed strength, she reclaimed pieces of her life that had long been out of reach. She discovered the peace of paddleboarding across Toronto Harbour at sunrise, the joy of new friendships in her Greenstone community, and the quiet pride of healing. It was at the very moment her life was rising toward hope and possibility that she received the devastating diagnosis of terminal colon cancer, almost 12 months ago. Kathy was predeceased by her mother, Gail Kendall; survived by her father, Dr. John Kendall. She leaves behind her brothers ,Hugh (Laurie Wherrett) and James; niece, Jacqueline; nephew, George Kendall and daughter, Virginia Ksiazek. Most of all, she was Sam's mom. Kathy will be deeply missed by a broad community of family, friends and colleagues who admired her for her strength, and how she rediscovered hope when she could have given up, and above all else, how she loved her son with a devotion that never wavered for a moment. There will be a private family service, and a Commemoration will be held in January. Many thanks for the kindnesses from the staff of the Odette Cancer, and at the end, Carpenter Hospice.
