(March 25, 1958 – June 8, 2025) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Mertes, beloved husband of Linda, and father of William and Liisa, who passed away suddenly on June 8, 2025, in Mississauga, Ontario. Born in Sault Ste. Marie on March 25, 1958, Paul was the cherished child of Bernerd and Joyce Mertes. Paul will be forever remembered by his family and friends who were touched by his kindness, compassion, and love. A visitation will be held at Turner & Porter, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga, on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. A second visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. Though we will miss Paul dearly, we are grateful for the time we had with him and the memories that we will forever hold close to our hearts. Paul, Linda and I shared many adventures with the post-university gang including living space at the Windermere drop-in residence. While unemployed for a brief time together we unraveled the mysteries of the Rubik's cube and challenged each other on who could solve it faster... a skill now lost! Although not so much in touch over the last years, whenever we reconnected, it was like yesterday, always a funny story and lots to laugh about.
