(nee ROSS) August 10, 1933 - December 24, 2024 It is with heavy hearts we announce that our mom Barb died peacefully but suddenly after a short illness in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her beloved husband, James and daughter, Judy McMurrich. Mom will be deeply missed by daughters Susan (James Allum) and Bobbie McMurrich, grandchildren Sarah Jean Allum (Samuel Baldwin) Hilary Allum (Kieran Rice-Lampert), Donovan Allum (Michaela Jennings), great grandchildren Jacob and Miles Baldwin, sister Judy Korthals and nephew/godson Jamie Korthals. Mom lived life well and had a real joie de vivre. She loved sports from a very young age and excelled at gymnastics, diving and was an avid tennis and badminton player. Her love of sports also extended to coaching our school swim teams. After attending Branksome Hall, mom studied Home Economics. She married the love of her life, James McMurrich, in 1957. We have so many wonderful memories of mom at home on Undermount Avenue, skiing in the Laurentian's, hiking Ontario trails and of course at our beloved Sundown Island, one of mom's favourite places, where she cherished times with friends and family. And so, here's to the wonderful person we were able to spend so many years with. She will always be remembered in the call of the loon, the whisper of the great white pine on Sundown Island and in the hearts and minds of those with whom she shared her life. A special thanks goes to the Retirement staff at Belmont House - Gail Walker, Brittney Hadada and staff, Dickie in particular, 2W staff, Home-instead Private Care staff, in particular Winnie, Zail and Donna who provided skillful and tender care to our mom. A reception celebrating mom's life will take place Saturday January 11, 2025 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto 25 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario Condolences may be forwarded through
