Barbara Sullivan Obituary

In celebration of a life of love for her family, we announce Barb's passing. She was the loving wife of Murray Paul Sullivan (2018). Together, Barb and Murray were longtime members of and enjoyed many years skiing at Osler Bluff Ski Club, along with their children, Kathy, Ian, Trish (Michael) and Lisa (Valentin); and grandchildren, Jack, Sydney, Nigel, Holly and Sarah. As a family they spent summers on Georgian Bay playing tennis, swimming and taking in breathtaking sunsets. Barb was the loving daughter of Dr. Kenneth Ferrie (Hamilton), Mary Justin Mann; and stepmother,Joan Taylor Ferrie. Barb was loving sister of Mary Helen Johnson; and "Auntie Barb" to Karen (Mike McCauley) and Johnathan (Veronica), and their children; and loving sister of Dr. Robert Ferrie (Helke) and "Auntie Barb" to their many children and grandchildren. On the Sullivan side, Barb was sister-in-law to ten, and aunt to their children. Barb was a graduate of Havergal College (1950), University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine (Physio and Occupational Therapy, 1954), and later in life, a Diploma in Theology. In addition to being a talented athlete (skiing, tennis, diving), Barb enjoyed music and singing and was an active member since 1960 of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and since 1989 of All Saints Catholic Church. Barb's love of her family was her most cherished vocation. Barb will be deeply missed by many; her bright smile, love, compassion and joy will live on in all those who came to know her. Special thanks to her "second family" at Humber Heights Long Term Care who, for the past few years, cared for and loved Barb as if she were their own. Visitation will be at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, at Windermere, east of Jane subway, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 1415 Royal York Road, on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. A short reception will follow in the church hall, followed by a family burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses and prayers for the missions would be appreciated. Barb's final wishes were to offer "Peace, Love and Joy!" to all.
