I am shocked to hear that my friend of fifty years has passed away. Now living in the country and not being one to read obituaries, I didn't find out until today, June 1st.
Barbara and I first met in 1973, when we were part of the same study group, and our friendship has remained strong ever since. I had wondered why I didn´t receive her usual Christmas card or birthday greeting this year-a thoughtful tradition she consistently maintained.
Her friendship was a gift, genuine and enduring, and I will miss the authentic connection we shared.
Rest in peace, Barbie Tayles.

I am so sad to hear of Barb´s passing. I met Barb over 50 years ago and she and her family were a big part of my life. To Lisa and Karl and other family members my deepest sympathies. What a wonderful person she was!

Being a "preacher´s kid,
I will start with a Biblical quote,
"As water reflects the face, so one´s life reflects the heart."
Psalm 27:19
Barbara´s life is a testament of her heart´s magnitude.
When l joined the Thursday afternoon AGO volunteers at the turn of the Century, our merry little band needed a name. Over drinks at Frank´s, Ina suggested "ARTURO.".... & that´s what we became: a close knit group of art lovers sharing our combined knowledge with AGO visitors.
HOWEVER, we also needed a group leader: Barbara was unanimously chosen, & she surprisingly accepted !!
I called her "my fearless leader ".. that´s exactly what she became for all of us.
No task was too small.. or too large for her:
*assigning us positions each week
*sending us knowledgeable AGO updates
*arranging special occasion events to attend
*remembering each of our birthdays (but keeping hers private..)
*treating us individually, asking about our particular interests & concerns
(our bonding included talks of "cottage/boating & my dog, Lulu"...
I actually took Barb once out to the AGO entrance to meet said dog waiting in the car. Lulu lavished her with kisses!)
The world is a better place, thanks to the bountiful quality of Barbara´s heart.
She was taken from us far too soon, but perhaps God had her destined to enrich the lives of those in Heaven!
May her spirit remain alive in each of our hearts.

I am very sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. I only knew as a fellow swimming enthusiast at Granite Place. Have been missing her over the winter and just learned of her passing. My condolences to her loved ones, she was a lovely lady.

I am passing on a message from A retired president of Leo Burnett, who Barb worked for...
"Dear Ken,
How nice to hear from you but how sad it was to read your email.
Of all the talented people that I have had the privilege of working with, Barbara Taylor has to be at the top of the top group.
Not only was she intellectually and professionally brilliant, but she combined these qualities with a warm, charming, articulate, way of doing what she did.
I thought of her as the role model her associates should try to emulate .
I think many of them did.
Thanks for letting me know Ken.
I hope this email finds you well.
As ever,
Kerry

Well, I am in a bit of shock hearing this news. Barb and I work together years ago at Leo Burnett. We kept in touch and had lunch probably once a year. For a couple of years, we both lived at the Granite place and would see each other in the pool. She was there pretty well every day. I was thinking that we would probably have lunch in the next couple of months. I am sorry for the sudden loss for all... For her sister and nieces and nephews who she talked about often.

It broke my heart to learn that our charming, kind, lovely, "headmistress" at the AGO is now with the angels. I hope she's in a better world.
We miss you Barbara.

I remember Barbara when she was a volunteer with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She was warm, kind and always a lady in the true sense of the word. Years later our paths crossed as we were both volunteers at the AGO. She will be missed and her memory cherished.

Dearest Renée and family, I so loved the time I spent with Barbi in the summers in Muskoka. She was a great Aunt by proxy and I know how wonderful she was in your life. Sending you all huge hugs and my deep condolences. May your memories be a blessing. And good travels in the next world, dear Barbi.

My condolences and thoughts to Barbi's whole family. The world is a lesser place without her. She helped me get a marketing job during one of those summers in university when there wasn't much work. Who would have known then my career would have turned into sales and marketing. Will remember her fondly next time I am at Allen's or Fran's downtown.

My condolences on the passing of my neighbour, the ever-lovely, positive, kind and friendly Barbara. I'd been missing her presence for awhile- thinking it was a matter of the insularity of Winter. I am very sad not to have seen her before she departed. My sympathies extend to her family.
