Barbara YATES Obituary

Passed away peacefully in Montreal, at the age of 100. Loving wife of 70 years to the late Dr. Havelock (Hack) Yates. Her spirited personality and love of life will be especially missed by her daughter, Pamela (Barry Prieur); her grandchildren, Shannon (Zachary), Amanda (Steve), Jay (Sonia), Matthew (Jess), Erin (Steve), Courtney (Phil) and Jordie (Chelsea); and her nine great-grandchildren. Barb was predeceased by her brothers, Jeff and Gordon (Jill); and the untimely passing of two of her beloved children, Lynn and Gordon. Barb enjoyed family excursions, travel, lawn bowling, bridge, and especially entertaining. The house at 39 Creekwood was the hub of many gatherings, most memorable of which were the pool parties, with Hack's signature cocktails and Barb's bountiful homemade fare. According to Barb's wishes, no funeral will be held. Her ashes will be interred in the family plot at St. Margaret's Cemetery, Scarborough, at a later date. We invite you to honour her memory with a favourite drink, accompanied by laughter and joy, celebrating a life lived fully for a remarkable 100 years.

I am the eldest of the Brand sisters who lived at 41 Creekwood for many years beside your parents. I was the cat sitter for several years when I passed the job on to my sisters. I remember your parents so fondly. When we were young we were always rock hunting for gold and your dad would patiently explain we found only mica. When I was older I fondly remember the room spinning after drinking your parents homemade strawberry wine. My dad Allan is 89 and remembers your parents well. Please accept our condolences. Your parents were so wonderful.

Dear Pam, I have just heard of the passing of your mom, and want to send you my love and sympathy. Connie is sadly no longer aware of what is going on, but i know that, if she did know, she would join me in sending love and sadness at the passing of such a remarkable lady. Much love for us both. Ann
