BARRY ROWLAND Obituary

It is with deep sadness and love that the family of Barry William Rowland announces his peaceful passing, at home in Toronto on February 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Barry will be deeply and forever missed by his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Anita; his children, Meghan Greenfield (David) and James (Alison); and his beloved granddaughters, Khloe, Madeleine, Charlotte, and Grace, who brought him endless joy. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Rowland (Keogh); and by his parents, William and Ann Rowland (Went). Born in Toronto on August 13, 1949. Barry built a lifetime of memories in Oxford, Richmond Hill, Rosseau, Sewickley, and ultimately back home in Toronto. He was a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA/CA) and former partner at Ernst & Young. Above all else, Barry treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, a supportive and loving father, and an endlessly proud Grandpa. He also loved his dogs - big and small. Honouring Barry's wishes, there will be no public visitation or service held in his remembrance. The entire family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate medical teams at Toronto General Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, and Mount Sinai Hospital. The family would also like to acknowledge the wonderful and caring caregivers in the home. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the UHN Foundation (uhnfoundation.ca/) or the United Way of Greater Toronto (www.unitedwaygt.org/), both of which Barry proudly supported.

I worked with Barry (the Fox) at CG when he was articling. It was through his help and support that I was able to finally pass the CA exams. I am sure his family will miss him.

To Anita, Meghan, and James - I was saddened to read of the news of Barry's passing earlier this month. I spent many years working with him at EY and learned much from him both professionally and personally. And I heard him express to me many times how much he loved each of you. My sincerest condolences to you and other family members. May times of happy memories console you in the days ahead.
