I'm sorry I was only made aware from my brother Mark today of our cousin Bayla's passing. To Leo, Elli, David and Sari & their extended families I wish to say how sorry I am for your loss. I adored Bayla. We stayed in touch through e-mails back when she and Leo were still snowbirds. We didn't get to spend a lot of family time together, although when we did,
we always had a good laugh over something going on in the room.
What really connected us was our staunch support for the State of Israel. I loved Bayla for her commitment to Zionism. Her commitment to teaching the importance of having a Jewish State is, mostly certainly to us in the Diaspora .
Let´s take comfort knowing that her Neshamah, as strong as it was here on earth is now a part of our collective eternal light. At a time when Israel is facing such pain and turmoil, we need all the strength we can get from here and beyond. Bayla left a spirit to be reckoned with in all of us who had the privilege to know and learn from her. Please do a Mitzvah in her name and say a Prayer for the return of our Hostages and for the Peace of Israel.
Much Love,
Becky Wayne

Oh, my dear Chaikof family. I am so sad to learn that Bayla has passed. I was fortunate and blessed to be taught, seen, heard and cared about by her from the moment I entered her classroom in 1962, as a newly arrived "immigrant/refugee " to Toronto. She was genuine and authentic, passionate about language (yiddish), the arts, literature, and her deep commitment to Eretz Yisrael, Jewish education and the community. She was devoted to her beautiful family, a role model for me of a deeply loving maternal energy which inspired me on my spiritual, healing journey. As, an adult, I felt Bayla's warmth, care and interest in me and my family, a gift I am truly grateful for. I especially appreciated her wisdom, clarity of perceptions and reality and the courage to compassionately, honestly and truthfully speak her mind. May we all reflect on and hold dear her spirit that will forever live on within all who were touched by her.
