BERT CHRISTENSEN Bert Christensen, born in Scarborough, Ontario in 1936, died in hospital in Scarborough in August 2022. He had been ill for more than a year. He is survived by his wife, Louise Ripley; his sister, Elly Elder; by his three sons, Mark, Brent, and Erik, and their wives and families, including five grandchildren; and his niece and nephew. There will not be a Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, instead send a contribution to the Canadian Unitarian Council or to Dying With Dignity. Bert died on his own terms and at his chosen time, thanks to the new law, C-14, MAID: Medical Assistance In Dying. Thanks to knowing the date, he had emotion-filled visits with all his family in the week before he passed. Our heartfelt thanks to Dying With Dignity for the incredible team who made this possible, and to Canada for having had the compassion to put MAID into law.
