BERTHA KATHRYN THOMPSON

Peacefully passed away at her residence in Elmira on Monday, September 8, 2025 in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. J.E. Thompson (2009). Dear mother of Paul and Patti of West Vancouver, Kathy and Steve Jarvis of Owen Sound, Ian of Owen Sound, Doug and Sue Calder of Auckland, New Zealand, Heidi and Doug Kolb of Waterloo. Loving grandma of Patrick Thompson (Allison), Katie Thompson (Graham), Kelly Thompson (Pratheep); Stephanie Norris (Chris), Ian Jarvis (Erin); Adam Kolb (Rebecca), Jon Kolb; Jacob Calder-Thompson; and great-grandma of Kathryn-Lise, and Thomas Norris; Henry, and Laura Jarvis. Sister of C. Davis Schurman and George E. Schurman. Predeceased by her parents, Urville and Dorothy (Nicholson) Schurman; and by her brother Jack Schurman. Community minded, mom was involved in various local projects and organizations, notably active for over 40 years with the Waterloo Historical Society. To honour Bertha's wishes, there will be no funeral home visitation or funeral service. A family interment will take place in Elmira Union Cemetery at a later date.
