BETTY BARRONS Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom Betty June Barrons on Friday, February 13, 2026 in her 89th year after a brief illness. Betty was the wife and best friend of John for 57 years; beloved daughter of Lorne and Marguerite Haliday, and sister to Robert (Francis); a loving mother to David (Esther), Donna (Jonathan, predeceased), and Michael (Kristen); proud grandmother to Carlton (Christina), Charlie, Andrew (Taylor), Megan, Ainsley, Graydon, and Gigi to Parker. Betty attended Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute and graduated from the School of Nursing at the University of Toronto in 1959. A long-time member of the Granite Club and Toronto Ladies Golf Club, Betty was an enthusiastic skier, curler, golfer, tennis and bridge player. For many years she was a successful real estate agent with Royal Lepage. Her greatest joy was the time she spent traveling and at the cottage on Long Point, Balsam Lake with family and many friends. Betty will be remembered by her family and many close friends for her warm and caring personality, sense of humour, and infectious smile. If desired, donations can be made to the North York General Hospital in Betty's memory. The family will be holding a private gathering to honor her memory. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.

Betty ( June) and I grew up together on Latimer Ave and attended Allenby Public school. Our family moved to North York so we attended different high schools but met up a few years later in a physics class at U of T, she in Nursing while I was in Phys Ed. She and John then moved to Hillcrest Village in North York where Frank and I lived and we attended Hillcrest United Church.
We reunited again at Lawrence Park Community Church about 3 years ago. Betty and I laugh at our many meetings and feel that you will surely meet again in the hereafter!!
See you later, Betty!

Betty was a wonderful bridge student. She was quick to learn and fun to be around. I first met her (and John) at the Granite but later I saw her at the Decadent Club where we shared quite a few laughs on many a Thursday afternoon. Will miss her. Good picture of her here as that is exactly how I´ll remember BB and her big beautiful smile.

Dear David, Donna and Michael,
I have known your mom, Betty June, since we went to Drag Lake Lodge in the summer of about grade 5. Later we continued our friendship as students of Nursing at U of T. And ever after! We had our first pregnancies close together and visited often with our firstborns, David and Robbie. After I moved to Calgary, we still frequently met for lunch when I visited Toronto. And with a Betty, lunch was always followed by shopping! We were kindred spirits, thought alike, and understood each other. She was a true and loyal friend.
I was surprised at her illness. She seemed the "youngest" of us all, the over 80 crowd! When I resorted to runners, Betty could always still look glamorous in her high heels. She was a "lady" through and through!
I send tears and hugs to you all. The last time I spoke with her she was resigned and ready. She maintained her dignity throughout.
With love and sympathy,
Susan Beveridge Spratt

I will always remember Mrs. Barrons as a very generous woman with a warm heart. When I was a child we were neighbours for a brief time - she gave me a doll that she knew I wanted but my parents had been unable to find that Christmas. Gestures like this are never forgotten and always cherished. My deepest sympathy to Betty's family and loved ones.
