WINTER, Blanche (Peer)
Peacefully, at her recent residence, Trillium Villa Nursing Home, Sarnia, on Thursday, September 2, 1999, Blanche Winter, age 90, formerly of Toronto and Petrolia. Beloved wife of the late Charles Winter (1977). Loving mother of Catherine Johnson and her husband John of Port Stanley, and Fran Gray and her husband Steve of Burlington. Dearly loved grandmother of Emily and Ian Gray, and Hardy, Adam and Joseph Johnson. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Joan, Bill, John and Mary (Morrow), and Bob and Pat (Peer). Predeceased by her brother Morley Peer and her sister Dora Morrow. She will be sadly missed by her family and her many, many friends. Born December 3, 1908 in Toronto, daughter of the late John Albert and Annie (Colwill) Peer, she lived her adult life in Petrolia and Sarnia. Blanche graduated from Victoria College of the University of Toronto and Snowhoi College, Denmark. She was a physical education specialist and also taught French, Canadian History and Music Theory at the Petrolia High School for 15 years, followed by 5 years teaching English and Latin at Northern Collegiate and 10 years of Guidance and Commercial English at St. Clair High School in Sarnia before retiring in 1971. She was a member of Canon Davis Memorial Anglican Church, the Superannuated Teachers of Ontario, the Ontario Superannuated Women Teachers and the White Cane Club. Complete Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME, 102 North Victoria Street (Davis at Victoria), Sarnia, on Monday, September 6th at 11 a.m., with the Venerable Dr. Gordon Simmons of Canon Davis Memorial Anglican Church officiating. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia, on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Visitation at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the C.N.I.B., the Parkinson Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. Two trees will be planted under the bridge by the family as a Living Memorial to Blanche and Charles Winter.
