Bob ARMSTRONG Obituary

BOB ARMSTRONG It is with great sadness that we share that our wonderful, dearly loved Bob passed away on January 21, 2024, surrounded by beauty in the Dominican Republic. Cherished husband of Diane McQuaig. Together they enjoyed a marriage filled with tremendous love, laughter and adventure. Adoring father to daughters, Kelly and Erin. He was so proud of them and their many accomplishments in the art and film world. Stepfather to Kate (Dan), Laura (Jodan), Margot and Jacqueline (Charles). Beloved 'Bear' to Will, Ben, Hudson, Hunter, Dylan, Tessa, Henry and Elliott. He will be sadly missed by his brother, Brian (Doreen) and family. Bob was happiest surrounded by family and friends at their farm in Creemore. A true Renaissance man, Bob had many talents and interests. He was a successful litigation lawyer who enjoyed a long and illustrious career. He had a rich life outside of work. His passions included music, photography, art, travel and golf. He was also a voracious reader, movie-goer and lover of fine dining. His love of music started as a young boy in Owen Sound, listening to his transistor radio and picking up Motown from Detroit. That burgeoned into a lifetime passion for concerts, musicals, and copious playlists he shared generously. As he grew older, he fostered a passion for capturing magical moments, and was rarely seen without his camera slung over his shoulder. He was known for his heart of gold, generous spirit, and infectious laugh. His popular newsletter, 'bitsandbobs… the world according to Bob,' was something many readers enjoyed weekly. He was one of a kind, and larger than life. We are heartbroken… and will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Camp Cucumber supporting struggling single mother families, a charity near and dear to his big heart (www.campcucumber.com). Family and friends are welcome to join us on February 4, 2024, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at The Miller Tavern, 3885 Yonge St., to toast his remarkable life.
