Brian J. E. Brock, K.C. (January 17, 1940 - September 9, 2025) After a lifetime of adventure, curiosity and travel, as well as an incredible career, Brian passed away peacefully at the Toronto General Hospital, at the age of 85. Brian loved art, music, scotch, golf, storytelling, sports, fishing, dogs, travel, gardening, reading, his family, and above all, he loved the law. Brian passes away leaving behind a legacy marked by legal excellence, mentorship to dozens of young lawyers and integrity above all. He was dedicated to the legal profession. As a founding member of Dutton Brock LLP, Brian built a career that spanned more than five decades and shaped both the legal profession and the next generation of trial lawyers. Among his many accolades, Brian was consistently listed in Lexpert's Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada. He was a past president of the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto, the County of York Law Association and the Toronto Lawyers Association. He was also a fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and past director of the Advocates Society and past editor of the Advocates Society Journal. He served as an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, teaching Medicine and the Law, and has taught Trial Practice at The University of Toronto and the Bar Admission Course and numerous litigation programs and conferences. Much loved husband of Jane Brock, loving father to Lesley Brock (Stephen), Eric Brock (Courtney), step-father to Jillian Clark (Robert) and Paul Berehulka (Jennifer) and dearest grandpa to Ella Mick, Bea Mick, Isaac Brock, Devon Berehulka, Brady Berehulka and 7 grand-dogs. Inside and outside of the courtroom, Brian's passionate belief in the ability of logic and reason to overcome anything - except his beloved Leafs failure to win - defined an amazing man and legacy. Brian was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever be remembered for his endless conversation, generosity, sense of humour and kind smile. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and logic and will be greatly missed by so many. Celebration of life to follow.
