BRIAN N. FORBES

Brian N. Forbes, aged 76, passed away peacefully at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, with his family by his side. He is survived and blessed in memory by his loving wife of 22 years, Tammy Forbes and family, including his sons and stepsons, Andrew, Jamie, Ozzie and Preston; sister, Pam; niece and nephew, Emily and Leif; daughters-in-law, Jen, Ashley, and Alana; and grandchildren, Harrison, Matthew, Charlie, Kieran, and Wesley. Brian served as the Chairman of National Council of Veteran Associations (NCVA) in Canada since 2010 and had been actively involved with the organization and the War Amps affiliate since 1980. He took great pride in working with both groups to find ways to improve the benefits and entitlements for veterans and their families. He also became a leading expert in veteran's legislation, and, in that capacity, appeared before the Parliamentary Standing Committee and the Senate Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs to advocate the legislative platform of the NCVA. Brian always had the unique ability to balance his passions for work, family, travel, and sports. He was just as dedicated in his pursuit of perfection on the golf course as he was in guiding his family on the best path that life could take them. High points of interest included his devotion to coaching his son's soccer and hockey teams, spirited travels in Ireland, expertise in world issues and the veteran community, commitment to support Ottawa's professional sports teams, and his masterful approach to refining his golf swing and short game. A visitation and celebration of life will be held for Brian at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on January 18th from 2 – 4 p.m. Donations to the War Amps of Canada are welcomed.
