Bridget CAMPBELL Obituary

BRIDGET LORRAINE CAMPBELL September 21, 1978 - January 6, 2023 Our dear Bridget passed away peacefully at Toronto General Hospital on January 6, 2023, after a 4-month battle with cancer. Bridget was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was born Bridget Lorraine Campbell in Oakville on September 21, 1978, and grew up in Georgetown, Ontario before attending undergrad at Western University and law school at Queen's University. During these years, Bridget played volleyball for the Province of Ontario and for Western (captaining the team in her senior year). After law school, Bridget moved to Toronto and settled into her new career as an associate at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP before marrying her beloved Edward in 2008 and also joining BlackRock as internal counsel where she remained a critical part of the BlackRock legal team as a Director until her passing. Bridget and Ed had their adored children Georgie and Teddy (in 2010 and 2012, respectively). Bridget's passion and dedication to her legal work was only surpassed by her commitment and devotion to her family. She truly was an inspiration and made us so very proud. Bridget was the light of our lives and she will be sorely missed. A visitation will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Road) on Sunday, January 15, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the funeral service will be held at the same location on Monday, January 16 at 1 p.m. Donations in Bridget's memory can be made to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation: https://supportthepmcf.ca/ui/DonateNow/donations/start.

I am so sorry to hear the news of Bridget´s passing. I went to public school with her. We played volleyball together. Thinking of her family during this difficult time.

Bridget to the rescue story-

Three busses, too packed to board had gone by. The torrential rain seemed to fall sideways and there was no escaping it. My umbrella had inverted and I was soaked to the bone, standing at the curb on Front St.

Just then a vaguely familiar car pulls up. As the window rolls down, I see my [then] new neighbour Bridget from across the street. "Need a ride?" she asks. Gratefully, I get in and am a bit abashed as I make a squelchy wet sound when sitting on the new-looking seats.

It struck me that it was both brave and kind of her to help me out at that moment. With the windshield wipers at the highest setting, she drove me home. We shared a laugh at the ridiculousness of the storm and she was quite gracious despite my having probably soaked the car seats.

It was a great, albeit unconventional, way to learn more about the young family that'd moved in across the street. Since then it's been a pleasure to see them grow, play in leaves, and build snow-forts on their front lawn. There's a lot of love there.

Bridget's kindness, continues through her family and friends no doubt. I hope this shared story brings a fond smile of remembrance, as it does for me.

My sincere sympathy to you all. I was shocked to receive this email from my daughter and childhood friend of Bridget´s at pine view school in Georgetown. I was her grade two teacher and knew she would do great things in her life. I feel privileged to have taught and known Bridget and her family. Our family sends our sincere sympathy.
