Brigita WEAVER Obituary
BRIGITA AGNE MERCS WEAVER Passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 in her home surrounded in love with both of her children at her side. She was a woman of high moral standard, grace and elegance, who cared deeply for all her friends and family both near and far. She set the bar high above the glass ceiling in her career. Graduating at the top of her class in Dentistry at the University of Toronto, Dr. Weaver became the first female dentist on staff at the Children's Hospital in Vancouver. At the same time she ran a successful dental practice using her famously gentle touch to passionately help her patients. Brigita held immense pride in her Latvian roots and maintained ties to this rich culture through her Daugaviete sorority. She travelled extensively on 6 continents with her favourite place being Maui. She enjoyed the classical arts, walking, skiing, tennis, and her beloved Tuesday night ladies bridge group of 40+ years. She leaves behind her son, Andre; daughter, Lara; grandsons, Jack and Nate; and neice, Larissa. She is predeceased by her sister, Daina; and parents, Hugo and Lilija. A memorial will be held in the garden of her beloved North Vancouver home of 50 years on September 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. A further burial ceremony to be held in late September in Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital Vancouver, BC.
