HOLLIDAY, Bruce DVM Emeritus
At his Cambridge home, in the presence of his family, Dr. Bruce Holliday passed away peacefully on March 21st, 2010. Loving husband to Claire, beloved father to Cam, Kris and Kevin and cherished Papa to Andrew, Colten, Mack, Decker, Katie and young Damon. Bruce will be deeply missed by the great many friends and colleagues who became a part of his life over his many years of involvement in veterinary medicine, hockey and rowing. Among his great many accomplishments he was most proud of his lifetime membership to both the Canadian and Ontario Veterinary Medical Associations where he was recipient of the prestigious Emeritus designation. Bruce was also significant in bringing the African Lion Safari to the area and he served as their veterinarian for many many years. His place of business, The Holliday Vet Clinic operated for nearly half a century in Galt and it is this devotion to the well being of our animals and pets that he will be most remembered for. Most recently, Bruce was inducted into the Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame. Many will remember him serving as President of Galt Minor Hockey or standing on the bench as manager of many teams. As years went by and his passion became rowing, he created the Cambridge Rowing Club and eventually spearheaded the construction of the Rowing Club Boathouse, now appropriately named the Bruce Holliday Boathouse. He touched many lives and donations in his honour may be made to the Cambridge Humane Society as per his wishes, Friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, March 27th at 1 p.m. in a celebration of his life to be held at The Bruce Holliday Boathouse located at River Bluff Park near Dickson Arena. The family sincerely hopes that you will join us in this blue jean casual tribute. Arrangements entrusted to Corbett Funeral Home (519-740-0669)
