DR. C.P. V. (VASU) NAIR

December 24, 2011
Vasu passed away Friday, December 24, at 4:30 p.m. in Regina, SK after a brave struggle with pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Vasu will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 46 years Sailaja; their daughters Deepa (Syam) and Roopa (Axel); his adoring grandchildren Liam and Benjamin; brother Dr. C.P.R. (Ravi) Nair; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other cherished family and friends. He was predeceased by his father Parameswaran Pillai; mother Devaki; and two elder brothers C.P.U. Nair and C.P.N. Nair. Vasu was born in Trivandrum, India to an esteemed family of ayurvedic physicians (Sree Dhanwatari Matam). He was a graduate of Trivandrum Medical College (5th batch). After completing post-graduate training in Neurology in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK and Montreal General Hospital (McGill University), he established his practice as a consultant neurologist in Regina in 1970. He was a Clinical Professor of Medicine (Neurology) at the University of Saskatchewan, and Head, Section of Neurology, Department of Medicine, Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. Throughout the years, he received awards for distinguished services and excellence in clinical teaching. In 1965, he married Sailaja, the love of his life. He was a devoted and exemplary husband, father, and grandfather. A caring physician, he put his patients and their families first, and was a teacher to his students and colleagues. He was a dedicated friend to all and a generous humanitarian and philanthropist. He was a gentle man, with a deep intellect and amazing sense of humour, greatly loved and highly respected. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in honour of Vasu can be made to the Hospital Foundations of Regina for neuro-diagnostic services, P.O.
