SANDERS, Dr. C. Borden
Peacefully, with his loving family by his bedside, at his residence in Welland, on Friday, May 14, 2004 at age 85 years. Cherished husband for 58 years to Jean Sanders (nee McKenzie). Beloved father of David Sanders (Pamela) of Strathroy and Janet Stuart (Gavin) of Vancouver. Loved grandfather of Heather, Christopher & Cameron Stuart and Michael & Robert Sanders. Dear brother of Dr. Britain Sanders (Maxine) of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Charles H. & Ida Mae Sanders. Born in Exeter, Ontario, Dr. Sanders attended the University of Western Ontario where he obtained his B.A., M.D. degree. Following his graduation and receiving his FRCP(C), Dr. Sanders came to Welland in 1952, where he became Welland's first Doctor of Internal Medicine. He continued to practice for some 36 years until retirement in 1988. Dr. Sanders was a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and was a former Chief of Staff of the Welland County General Hospital. As well he was a member of Merritt Masonic Lodge # 168 AF&AM, Welland and Central United Church. Friends visited the family at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street. Welland. A private family interment took place in Grand Bend, Ontario. Friends are now invited to attend a memorial service in Dr. Sanders honour at Central United Church, corner of King & Young Street, Welland, on Saturday, May 29th at 1:00 p.m. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Welland Hospital Foundation or the Endowment Fund of Central United Church and would be deeply appreciated by the Sanders family.
