Canon FAIRWEATHER Obituary



FAIRWEATHER, The Rev'd Canon Eugene RathboneM.A., Th.D.
Born Ottawa, 2 November 1920; died in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, N.S., Saturday, 6 April, 2002. The funeral was celebrated on 11 April, 2002 at All Saints Cathedral, Halifax, N.S. The only child of the late Ernest and Lulu (Rathbone) Fairweather, he is survived by several cousins, many special friends and parishioners of the Church of St Mary Magdalene, Toronto. In 1944 he was ordained priest and became a member of the Faculty of Divinity at Trinity College, Toronto, where he served until his retirement in 1986, where he was involved in scholarship, writing, teaching and administration as well as significant work in the ecumenical movement. His faithful work as a priest at St Mary Magdalene's will be missed. A Requiem Mass will be sung on Wednesday, 24 April 2002 at 8:00 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, Church of St Mary Magdalene, 477 Manning Avenue, Toronto M6G 2V8 or the Faculty of Divinity, Trinity College, Hoskin Avenue, Toronto M5S 1H8.
