Dear Mr. Long, Steven, Catherine, Jeff and Julie, we are so sorry to hear of your wife and Mom's passing. We (the Barootes) have such fond memories of our childhood together, playing, going to the Red Barn, listening to music (always). I had the special privilege to be a guest at your cottage and remember how gracious your Mom was. She had a huge and infectious smile. She always wanted to know how we all were getting along in school, our joys and ambitions although we were quite young. I know what an esteemed member of the Toronto music scene she was. Getting ready for an evening's performance, she dazzled and enchanted inside and out. How fortunate you were to have been blessed with such a sensitive and caring Mom. We just lost our Dad in September and know how painful this must be. Oh, she will be missed. Our hearts go out to all of you at this sad time.

Dear Jack, Julie and all the Long Family;
I am so very sorry for your loss and sorrow. I hold a very, very special place in my heart for Carol and always will. She and the entire Long family were so very kind and caring to me as a child and Carol treated me like I was family. I had the honour and pleasure of chatting with your wife and Mom on a number of occasions. I was always struck by her grace, her warmth and her attentiveness. Of course Steve has many more lovely encounters with her. She will be missed and you all are her amazing legacy.
