Carol passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the age of 83. Wife of Thomas and mother to Matthew and Richard; survived by her siblings, Margot (Barry), Kenneth (Elizabeth), and Roy. Aunt to Grace, Malia, Bill, Kiera, Robin, Justin and Adam and Willow. In keeping with Carol's wishes, cremation hast taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Born October 13, 1941, in Toronto, daughter of Grace (nee Hill) and C. Clark (Joe) Hopper. She grew up in Etobicoke, attending Etobicoke Collegiate, where she served on the student council and the Girls Athletic Association, making many friends with whom she remained in touch throughout her life. After high school Carol attended Wayne State University in Detroit where she graduated with a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. She met Tom while in school, and they married, settling in Burlington where Tom set up his dental practice. Always an entrepreneur, Carol set up her muffin business, Muffins Magic, make small bite-size muffins that she promoted and sold to many shops in the area. She was a devoted advocate for her autistic son, Richard, pursuing support for his education while surrounding herself with those who also shared her advocacy. Carol moved to Georgetown then Toronto in this regard. Carol was an enthusiastic fan of all types of sports. She was also a loving pet owner. A highlight of her life was the celebration of her grandfather's legacy, The Hilroy Foundation Awards, where as trustee she presented awards to exemplary teachers each year. Her joie de vivre, her caring and kindness towards others is her greatest legacy. She will be greatly missed. Arrangements entrusted to Smith's Funeral Home, Burlington (905-632-3333).
