CAROLIN GOWLAND 1942 - 2024 Mrs. Laura 'Carolin' Gowland (nee Allen) passed away at Red Deer, Alberta, on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the age of 81 years. Carolin was born on June 16, 1942, at Flesherton, Ontario, to James and Elsie Allen (nee Sewell). She married Bill Gowland, and the family lived in Brampton for a number of years, before moving to the Flesherton/Markdale area in 1968. There, she was active in the Figure Skating Club for a number of years. In 1978, the family moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta, where she completed her bachelor's degree and earned several academic awards. She owned and operated her own staffing business for many years, taught at Keyano College for several years, and was quite active in the community. They retired to Red Deer in 2002, and spent winters in Florida, where they had purchased a property. Carolin will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bill Gowland; her son, Kevin William (Joanne) Gowland of Calgary; her daughters, Dianna Lynn Richardson (Kim Bowbell) of Drayton Valley, and Karen Elizabeth Holman (Ken) of Lake Country, British Columbia; her grandchildren, Ashley Bryski (Eddy), Alexandria and Ben Holman, and Amy and Katie Gowland; and her great-grandchildren, Emmett and Avery Bryski. Carolin will also be sadly missed by her sister, Phyllis Moffitt, and the late Murray Moffitt of Guelph, Ontario. A Celebration of Carolin's Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. For those unable to attend the Celebration of Life Service, please go to
