May 21, 1962 – October 1, 2024 Carolyn Louise Bain, fondly known as Carrie, CB, or Bainer, was a natural storyteller with a kind heart, a wicked sense of humour, and a perpetual twinkle in her eye. Adopted by Jean and Harvey as a baby, she joined her older brothers, Gordon and Steven, quickly becoming the family's heartbeat. Carrie's childhood in North Toronto was idyllic, filled with a house on the hill, a menagerie of pets, summers at Big Bay Point and lifelong neighborhood friends always ready to join in her never-ending antics. Hot summer days in the 'hood were marked by walking around barefoot, sipping lemonade in her backyard, listening to the cicadas-simple pleasures were, without a doubt, what Bainer enjoyed most in life. Whip smart, after high school Carrie became a real estate agent, a career that matched her outgoing personality and business savvy. She thrived in Muskoka, where she eventually developed a concierge business and established deep roots and a strong community. Carrie was a natural athlete, and in her later years, she enjoyed watching golf, tennis, and horse racing, live or on TV. She was a passionate animal lover and always had a dog or cat by her side, stray or otherwise. She loved old boats and cars, and her vintage white convertible was the getaway vehicle in many a caper. Carrie will be remembered for her incredible loyalty. She cherished her parents and was a trusted and compassionate support to them in their final years. She made friends with ease and had an incredible knack for connecting with people, young or old. You could bring her anywhere, and she would either know someone there or leave having formed a new bond. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, which naturally drew people to her-a gift that kept on giving to the very end. Being with Carrie was like embarking on your best adventure – she brought intrigue and excitement, always keeping you on your toes, but returning you (mostly) safe and sound. Despite facing health challenges and tough losses later in life, her spirit and feistiness never wavered. Carrie, CB, Bainer was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, November 27th at the Toronto Cricket Club, 141 Wilson Avenue, between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 pm. Contributions can be made to a
