CATHARINA ANNA HELENA JOHNSTON NEE VAN ITERSON Anna Johnston died gracefully on August 10, 2009 after a long, brave battle with cancer. Anna will be dearly missed by her loving husband John, son Alex and daughter-in-law Polly Sykes, daughter Karen and son-in-law Kevin Dandewich, and grandson Jacob Dandewich, as well as her brothers Willem Van Iterson and Jan Van Iterson, his wife Annette Rubin, and her siblings-in-law Leslie and Michael Cowger, Jocelyn Johnston and David Gray, Frank Johnston and Emily Manning, Jim and Roseanne Johnston, and Peter Johnston and Meg Borden, as well as her many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents and parents-in-law and her sister-in-law Susan Van Iterson. Anna was born on January 22, 1946, in Holland, and spent her early childhood in Curacao before moving to Canada with her family. Anna's life was defined by her devotion to goodness. Her cheerfulness, kindness and generosity uplifted us all. Special thanks are offered to the many kind and helpful staff and volunteers at the Toronto University Health Network and to Michelle Williams. The family will receive visitors at Humphrey Funeral Home at 1403 Bayview Ave., Toronto, on Friday, August 14, 2009, from 6:00 to 9:00 in the evening. A funeral service will be held at Bloor Street United Church, 300 Bloor Street West, in Toronto, on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Van Iterson Fund for Alternative Cancer Treatments, at the Holistic Health Research Foundation of Canada, 80 Carlton Street, Toronto, ON, M5B 1L6, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
