Catherine PAMPE Obituary

CATHERINE ANN PAMPE (SMITH) 1944 - 2022 It is with profound sadness that we announce the recent passing of Catherine Pampe on July 28, 2022, after a two year battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Ann Smith. Beloved wife of Robert for 54 years. Loving mother of David (Sherry), Caroline (Sean) and Morgan (Kristin). Older sister to Marian and Barbie. Adoring grandmother of Magnolia, Bobby, Davis, Georgia, Maxwell and Jack. Cathy was born in Winnipeg, but moved to Toronto at the age of four. She attended Havergal College and Innis College at University of Toronto where she studied fine art. Cathy met Bob on a trip to Europe in grade thirteen and they were married in 1968. A member of the Junior League, Cathy volunteered at the Opportunity Shop and The Art Gallery for many years. Cathy's proudest accomplishment was raising her three children. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family and her wonderful laugh. We will try to live in her spirit to always keep her close. The family would like to thank the medical staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center and especially her loving caregiver, Amelita (Amie). A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Bob
I first met Cathy as a fellow student at Innis College, U of T, September 1964. We were members of the small six member team that wrote the Innis College Student Society Constitution. Throughout her time at the college she brought much warmth, enthusiasm, and energy to any person or group near her. She was a beautiful person in the truest sense of the word. My deepest sympathy and condolences To you and your family.

I first met Cathy when she and Sue and I drove down to Cape Cod, during time off from school. Next we met at Shaw's Business College where we studied typing - thank heavens our mothers made us do that - it really helped when computers came along! I married in 1967 and headed out to Victoria where I attended Teachers' College and unfortunately lost track of Bob and Cathy over the years. When I last saw them, at Rand and Nancy Spence's house, they both looked much the same and were very friendly.
Bob, I know you will miss Cathy a great deal and I am glad you have lots of children and grandchildren with whom to spend time. Take care,
Love,
Lynne

I had the great pleasure of knowing Cathy when we were very young. I met her children, I knew her parents and counted Bob among my close friends in those days. I am very sorry for your loss, all of you. She had a special way of lighting up a room. Beautiful of course, smart no doubt, funny and fun. Sorry I only knew her for such a short time but feel blessed to have done so.

My hugest, heartfelt sympathies to you all at this tough time. Cathy was such a spark, with such a big, contagious laugh. She lit up a room. She had great warmth and a sense of kindness for everyone, yet a great leader at the same time. Everyone loved Cathy! I´ll miss those uproarious laughs that we used to have. Bobby, she was a wonderful loving, grateful, appreciative wife and to the kids and grandkids- a loving, devoted and proud mother and grandmother.
I´ll miss her- we´ll all miss her.
Xoxo Cathy
