CÉCILE MOORE Obituary
(née Côté, 1926 - 2025) In her 100th year, on November 11, 2025. Born in Baie-des-Sables, Lower St. Lawrence of Québec, in 1926, Cécile was the youngest and last surviving of nine children born to Ferdinand Côté and Euphémie Bernier. Beloved spouse of Edmund Joseph Moore for 64 years. Devoted mother of Andrew, Madeleine (Samuel MacCallum); and loving "Grand-maman" of Liam, Jacqueline and Simon. Cécile was a determined and cultured person who first moved to Montreal as a young woman, and then to Toronto in the 1950s. She worked in language translation for a major retailer where she thrived and where her love of fashion was well supported; a passion she maintained all her life. She loved her life in Toronto where she married and raised her family. Cécile also loved the theatre, opera and ballet, and she supported them throughout her life. She was a tireless fundraiser for numerous causes that were very dear to her, particularly those related to animal welfare. Proud of her French Canadian heritage, she was also so proud to have her children and grandchildren be fluently bilingual while growing up in Toronto. She maintained a Québec connection with her family by having a summer home in the Eastern Townships, as well as regular visits to the Lower St. Lawrence. Her French-Canadian heritage was also honoured by her lifelong love of cooking. "La cuisine" was all about family and being together for Cécile. Her influence on our family will always be fondly remembered. A funeral service has been held, with interment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Toronto.
