Cecile PEARSALL Obituary

CECILE PEARSALL April 27, 1932 - February 8, 2021 Cecile left this world on February 8, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by the love of her life, Lewis; she will be greatly missed by her brother, Alan and wife, Suzanne; daughters, Arlene and husband Bill and LeeBari; her sons, Philip and wife Gloria, Marc and wife Marny and Russell and wife Anne; her grandchildren, Adam and Emily, Jesse and Cole, Molly and Jake; and her great-grandchildren. Cecile dedicated her life to her children and also found the time to do extensive volunteer work at Wellspring (Cancer Support Foundation), Canstage, Soulpepper, and the Tarragon theatres in Toronto. Cecile also had an extensive extended family of friends (you know who you are!) and also her beloved community at Helliwell Place, where Cecile called home for her last 20 years. The family offers our sincere thanks to all those friends who have been so supportive to Cecile over the years. We cannot express in words our gratitude to you all. A celebration of Cecile's life will take place once the COVID-19 shutdown has been lifted. Friends will be notified. Donations in Cecile's memory may be made to the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation (wellspring.ca/donate).

We adored our cousin Cissy whose smile and warmth was always radiating like the sun. To know her was to love her and we only have fond memories of what a generous and loving person she was. Danea and I will miss her forever.

I met Cecile over twenty years ago when I became a volunteer at Wellspring. We lived close to each other on Logan Avenue and I would see Cecile and Lewis walking by outside my window hand in hand. Later, after Lewis' death we would meet each Tuesday in the Broadview subway station and travel together to volunteer at Wellspring. I would make a little lunch for us both and she always made a fuss about it, saying it was a “gourmet” lunch. She was that sort of person, fun and empowering, special to me.
Later, when she found out she was sick my husband Gareth Sparham would drive me over on Tuesdays to her condo where she would be waiting outside beaming as usual. Gareth came to look forward to those Tuesdays as much as I did. They formed a deep connection, which is something I noticed she did seamlessly with so many people.
Such an absolutely wonderful person, such a joy to bring her to mind now and reflect on her kindness and love of life. May she rest in peace forever.

We loved her warmth and sweet nature coupled with her strength and great sense of individuality. She walked to her own drummer and cared about the whole world. Her loving children and her beloved Lewis were at the top of the list. We will miss her presence in our world.

My condolences to you all. Cecile will be greatly missed here at Wellspring. I always enjoyed visiting the centre on the days Cecile was volunteering and the interesting conversations we had. She had such a lovely way of welcoming visitors and making them feel immediately at home. She contributed so much to our organization. Please know my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

When I first met Cecile, I was struck by her calm and calming presence, her elegance and her intelligence. We had little more than a passing acquaintance here at Helliwell Place but she never failed to stop me when we crossed paths and offer a compliment, a kind word or something that would inevitably cheer my day. She must have been a fabulous person to call "mother." My deepest condolences to her family and close friends. She will be missed here in our vertical village.

When I met Cecile I was immediately attracted to her smart, funny and contagious sense of humour. Then having long, meaningful discussions about any topic made me like her even more. I didn’t know Cecile for long but I will miss her laugh and our wonderful chats. RIP beautiful Cecile xxx

I met Cecile as a new volunteer at Wellspring -- she was a wise counselor and a superb mentor. Over the years, we often shared a volunteer 'slot' and talked away the quiet times on all manner of subjects -- notably the fact that each of us was widowed from 'the love of our lives' and, in Cecile's case, her amazing and overarching love for her grandkids -- her gorgeous smile would become absolutely rapturous and she talked about them. We will all miss her -- surely her kind will not come again in our lifetimes.
