CHANTALE PINARD Obituary
Dr. Chantale Pinard, DVM, MSc, Dip ACVO - It is with deep sadness we announce the death of our beloved daughter and sister, Dr. Chantale Louise Pinard. Chantale was born in Ottawa on May 25, 1968, and died peacefully, in Guelph, on November 11, 2025, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her father, Gerald; her mother, the late Janine Pinard (2019); her sister, Carole, brother-in-law, Thomas Fournier; and Ethel, her three-year old yellow Labrador. Chantale graduated from OVC in April 1993. She received her M.Sc. in Clinical Science in 2002 and her Specialization in Comparative Ophthalmology in 2003 from Kansas State University. She was a staff Veterinarian from 2002 - 2007 at the University of Montreal's FMV. In 2007 she was in a tenure track faculty position at OVC, Asst. Prof. 2007 - 2012, Assoc. Prof. 2012 - 2023 and received full Professorship in 2023. She was a member of the University of Guelph choir and involved in many volunteer efforts using her professional skills. She especially treasured the four weeks a year when she offered her professional skills and teaching in the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island. In the past three years, since receiving her diagnosis, Chantale has travelled to visit former colleagues, technicians, former students and friends in Canada and the US. She lived every day to the fullest and never lost her beautiful smile and sense of humour. Chantale's kindness, dedication to her clinical practice and teaching have touched the lives of many students, colleagues and friends. May her memory be a blessing for all of us who have been fortunate to have her in our lives. May we continue her legacy of expecting excellence in our work, nurture our resilience and, above all, love. The family wishes to thank Drs. Robinson, Evans and Zajdlik, and the wonderful nurses and staff at Guelph General Hospital for all the care and support they gave Chantale over the past years. A Memorial Service for Dr. Pinard will be held on November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Summerlee Science Complex Waasamowin (Atrium) at the University of Guelph. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Dr. Chantale Pinard Award for Clinical Teaching Excellence (uoguel.ph/inhonourdrchantalepinard) or The Pet Trust at OVC, University of Guelph.
